Solar Electrical System Installation and Maintenance Level 1 – NSDA

Solar Electrical System Installation and Maintenance Level 1 – NSDA

This competency‑based course prepares learners to work as entry‑level technicians in the solar energy sector, with a focus on off‑grid solar electrical systems and solar‑based street lighting. It covers fundamental concepts of climate change and renewable energy, safe use of tools, interpretation of technical drawings, basic electrical theory, practical wiring, system installation, and routine maintenance and troubleshooting.

Course Overview

Learners begin by understanding why solar energy matters in the context of global climate change and the transition to renewable energy sources. They are introduced to the principles of solar electrical energy, including how solar panels convert sunlight into electricity and how off‑grid systems support homes, businesses, and communities without reliable grid connections. The course then progressively builds practical skills in tools use, wiring, installation, and maintenance so that learners can competently support real‑world solar projects.
