The global and national rise in the elderly population has created a growing demand for trained caregivers who can support seniors with dignity and professionalism. This Level 3 programme is designed to build advanced, person‑centred caregiving skills for those working with older adults.

Course Description and Objectives

This advanced training programme prepares participants to support the complex physical, emotional, and social needs of elderly persons in home, community, or institutional settings. The course also strengthens the professional standards required for both national and overseas employment in elder care.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain age‑related physical, cognitive, and psychosocial changes and their implications for care.

  • Provide safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate daily care.

  • Communicate effectively with elderly persons and their families or guardians.

  • Demonstrate work readiness for national and international caregiving roles.

  • Physical, Cognitive, and Emotional Needs of the Elderly

  • Personal Care: Bathing, Dressing, Grooming, Toileting

  • Nutrition, Hydration, and Medication Support

  • Fall Prevention and Safe Handling/Transfer Techniques

  • Chronic Disease Management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, arthritis)

  • Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Behavioural Support

  • First Aid and Emergency Care for Elderly Persons

  • End‑of‑Life and Palliative Care Support

  • Ethics, Dignity, Safeguarding, and Professional Boundaries

Duration and Mode of Delivery

  • Total duration: 360 hours

  • Delivery mode: Blended (face‑to‑face and online components)

  • Scheduling: Timetable can be adapted to suit working learners, including evening or weekend sessions.

  • Caregivers who have completed Level 2 training or equivalent.

Certification
